RUSTIC RETREAT

With a hectic work schedule and two large dogs, my client wanted the backyard to be low maintenance with areas to relax and entertain.  This yard had areas of full sun and full shade which allowed for a wide selection of plant material. I built a stone firepit for entertaining and a secluded patio with a hammock under the trees for relaxing.  The large hill along the side of the stairs was a challenging area to mow and care for. The solution was tiered gardens with large armor stones and low-maintenance shade-loving plants. The perimeter garden was lined with curb stones to help keep things looking tidy and cut back on yard work.  The finished product made you feel comfortable and secluded but still had open areas for dogs and children to play.
